Brigitte Jensen has been the Honorary Consul of France for Central Florida since 1995. And as the Honorary Consul of France, she acts as a liaison for the French Government assisting French citizens visiting and living in and around Central Florida. She is also the diplomatic representative of France to the Central Florida community. Her duties include French Citizen Passport management, Travelers in distress, French-American Business development and proxy elections allowing French citizens in Florida to vote in French elections. She also organizes diplomatic visits to Florida on behalf of French government officials.
As one of the more senior honorary consuls in central Florida, Brigitte was selected to serve as the dean of all international consuls for the central Florida area. In this role she is the lead point of contact and voice of the international diplomatic community for common interests between Central Florida government and the international diplomats.
In the year 2000 the French Government knighted Brigitte as a “Chevalier De L’ordre Du Merite” which is among the highest civilian distinctions the government bestows upon French citizens. She received her title and the attendant recognition based upon her extraordinary contributions representing the French people in Florida. Brigitte has been known to go well beyond the call of duty when called upon by the French Government.
Brigitte is also the President of the French American Business Council in Orlando (FABCO). She is a successful businesswoman and professional owning her own marketing company targeting the tourist industry. In her role as the president of FABCO, she leads efforts to assist French companies wishing to invest in Florida and provides guidance and support to American companies seeking to invest in France. She organizes monthly events connecting French businesses with central Florida businesses facilitating business and cultural interactions.
Brigitte was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Paris, and she is a both an American and French Citizen. She has lived in Central Florida for over 30 years and is fluent in French, English and Spanish.
