FusionFest and Valencia partner on Fusion Cooking Contest

Valencia College’s downtown campus in the Creative Village, with its Walt Disney World Center for Culinary Arts and Hospitality, will be the new home of FusionFest’s Fusion Cooking Contest. The dates of the contest have been moved from the hubbub of the November Festival to a time less busy for chefs – June 27 and 28, 2022. FusionFest’s focus on honoring the many heritages of Central Floridians while exploring how we influence each other is shown in the $1,000 prize for best fusion cooking. Chefs are encouraged to combine ingredients, spices or techniques brought from one continent with ingredients, spices or techniques from another continent.

“This partnership will provide our students a unique opportunity to observe the creativity and skill of local chefs competing on our campus,” said Chef Alex Erdmann, Dean of Valencia’s School of Hospitality and Culinary.

“Food is something we all enjoy. The way FusionFest brings together Central Floridians from different cultures, makes us all happy and the fusion contests inspire creativity,” says Thali Sugisawa, FusionFest Managing Director. “We are delighted to join the educational forces of Valencia to challenge innovations in our dining options.”
