DJ, a director-choreographer for 25 years, has also written book and lyrics for several musicals with various composers. They include Children on Their Birthdays (based on a Capote story, composer Rob Johnson), Where the Lilies Bloom, Poodleful! (composer/lyricist Ken Clifton) and The Man Who Would Be King (composer Neil Berg), Moonshine and Mistletoe (arrangements by Larry Moore), presented in 2016 at the York Theatre, is currently being developed for television. New projects include a jukebox musical called Rock Me Gently, and an immersive musical entitled Whisper Darkly with composer/lyricist Andrew Gerle. He danced with Southern Ballet theatre prior to his NYC theatre career and debuted two dances for the same company as choreographer. His children’s ballet, Wynken, Blynken, and Nod, was set on SBT’s apprentice company and was also performed at the New York Children’s Museum. With composer Aris Antoniades, DJ is developing an evening length dance theatre piece based on a Jean Renoir film.
