Mai-Huong Nguyen believes that dance, culture, and diversity is central to connecting communities, friends, and families. She preserves her native Vietnamese culture through her love for dancing and choreographing traditional, folk, and fusion performances. Her choreographies draw from childhood experiences and dance steps learned in Vietnam, artistic inspirations, and research on traditional Vietnamese dance methods and techniques. Mai-Huong’s focus on building bridges between dancing, culture, and community involvement developed since her college years in the United States. Her passion for dancing and connecting others led her to create and lead two dance groups, Phap Vu Dance Group and Thuyen May Productions, that performed throughout Florida and in Wake Forest, North Carolina. In her spare time, Mai-Huong volunteers to teach traditional dance to youth groups at various Vietnamese communities and temples.
