I started writing poems and short stories when I was 12 and had always planned to pursue it as a career. Unfortunately, as I got older and life became more demanding, I wrote less and less until I stopped writing altogether. A few months ago I met a local poet at an art walk who introduced me to the poetry community here in Tampa. Thanks to him and everyone else in the community, I started writing again and have even started spotlighting and featuring at events. After five years of not writing anything, all I can do is write and wait to perform; FusionFest feels like the next step in my journey, and a great way for me to showcase how far I’ve come.
