Sheherazade Thenard is a visual artist who uses figurative painting as a vehicle to explore identity, personal histories, and as a tool to examine the narratives surrounding black bodies. As a third-generation Caribbean woman, Thenard’s works offer illumination to cultural backgrounds that are lost due to assimilation. Through heightened reality she approaches these narratives by breaking down aspects of her identity and reconstructing them to encompass her experiences.Bio: Sheherazade Thenard (b. 1995, New York) is an Orlando based figurative painter who is pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts degree at the University of Central Florida.
